Concerts taking place at the UKZN School of Music from May 10 to 12 include:
May 10: Yea Kyung Kim (violin) who was the winner of the 2008 Classical Performers’ Competition. She will be performing Beethoven’s Spring Sonata No. 5 in F major and Kreisler’s Prelude and Allegro. Bongiwe Dlamini (violin) will also feature with Curci’s Concertino in A Minor. They will be accompanied by Professor David Smith. The concert takes place in Howard College Theatre from 12h15 to 13h00 and entrance is free.
May 11: CJPM Twosday presents Child’s Play: A Portrait in Four Colours featuring Jazz Performance Students; Vincent Mtetwa, Isaac Mekgwe, Jessica Moodley and Mdu Madalani. The performance takes place at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music from 17h30 to 19h00 (doors open at 17h00). Entrance R25 (R10 students) and a cash bar is available.
May 12: Sacred Song, a concert of excerpts from Mendelssohn's Elijah featuring Opera School & Choral Academy voice performance majors and the Opera and Choral Ensemble. They will be accompanied by Dana Hadjiev (piano). The concert takes place at Jubilee Hall (OSCA), Princess Alice Avenue from 12h15 to 13h00 and entrance is free.
May 12 and 13: UKZN Youth Jazz Festival featuring Performance Ensembles from the Jazz Studies programme. The performance takes place at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music from 17h30 to 19h00 (doors open at 17h00). Entrance R25 (R10 students) and a cash bar is available.
