Youth Day Festival with the KZNPO
Join the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra and storyteller, Gcina Mhlophe, in celebrating Africa and her youth on June 16. The morning festival offers a host of entertainment for the whole family, finishing early enough for soccer fans to get to their chosen venue ahead of the afternoon match at 16h00.
Gerhard de Jager will conduct the orchestra, while Gcina provides the narration for the ever-popular Peter and the Wolf. The KZN Youth Orchestra, conducted by Lyk Temmingh, as well as Isicathamiya group the Mpumalanga Whitebirds and the Siwela Sonke Dance Company will provide further entertainment during the morning.
The Youth Day Festival promises a morning of fun for all with an opportunity to learn the Diski Dance, watch a demonstration of Soccer Tricks and be entertained by puppeteers, mime artists, balloon sculptors and stilt walkers
The All About Africa Youth Day Festival runs from 09h00 to 13h00 on June 16 at Chris Saunders Park (next to Gateway Shopping Centre). Tickets R50 (R20 scholars, children under 12 free) available at the gate which opens at 08h00. Secure parking is available in the surrounding area and at Gateway Shopping Centre. Bring a picnic hamper and join in the festivities.
