St Anne’s College hosts workshops at Hex in Pietermaritzburg.
St Anne’s College will host workshops for children in Grades 5, 6 and7 only (10-13 years) from June 21 to 25 Movement Studio of the Hexagon Theatre on the University of KwaZulu-Natal Pietermaritzburg campus. Workshops run from 09h00 to 12h30 and the programme fee is R350pp.
“Those enrolling must be able to attend the full five mornings as we work towards a performance,” says Lynn Chemaly St Anne’s Theatre Director. “They must also have a strong interest/love/desire to perform. Ability is not necessary, but passion is!
The aim of the workshop is to expose the pupils to the following performance skills: TRUST - group dynamics and team work; IMPROVISATION – freeing the left brain; CREATIVE MOVEMENT – freeing the body; VERBAL DYNAMICS and CHORAL VERSE – language expression; CHARACTERIZATION – creating a character: vocally, physically, emotionally, and ACTED SCENE WORK – playing a character. The THEME PROGRAMME PERFORMANCE will focus on COMIC ACTED PERFORMANCE.
