Mbhekeni Mbili’s new exhibition at KZNSA

Young Durban art star Mbhekeni Mbili presents a new series of acrylic paintings on canvas and paper at the KZNSA Gallery in an exhibition titled Inhlabathi Yase Africa (Touch African Soil).

Mbhekeni Mbili was born 1975 in Umlazi Township, and is a self-taught artist and known for his cuttingly observant eye and bitingly humorous visual language. This is his third solo exhibition at the KZNSA.

With Inhlabathi Yase Africa, Mbili presents multiple views of the reality of the current sporting mania. Drawing on real social situations in Umlazi, he paints them with fresh insight, suffusing his subject matter with an optimistic critique.

Inhlabathi Yase Africa runs until June 26. The KZNSA Gallery is situated at 166 Bulwer Road, Glenwood, in Durban. More information on 031 277 1703, fax 031 201 8051 or cell 082 220 0368 or visit www.kznsagallery.co.za
