It is with an enormous sense of relief that I hear that author (and former KZN dancer) Bree O’Mara’s remains have finally been identified and are being repatriated to South Africa. It gives a certain sense of closure, however agonised, and my thoughts go to those families who are still awaiting the DNA identification of their loved ones.
In line with her wishes, Bree will be cremated and her ashes scattered in Kosmos where she lived, Durban where she grew up, and Ireland.
There will be a memorial service for her on Saturday June 12 at 11h00 at the Kosmos Garden Chapel at Hartbeestpoort Dam. Donations in lieu of flowers to HAWS (Hartbeespoort Animal Welfare Society). The contact person is Margaret Rushton (rushton@iafrica.com).
Any queries about the service can be directed to her husband, Christopher Leach, at (cdvleach@yahoo.com) – Caroline Smart
