THE WIND IS A STORY

Pieter Scholtz releases new novel.

The haunting strains of the mbira – a traditional San musical instrument – are borne on the wind. So, too, are the stories which comprise Pieter Scholtz’s new novel, The Wind is a Story.

In it there are three tales involving people whose lives are intertwined: a traditional Afrikaans farming family in the Karoo; a Bushman child, Twikwe, who grows up with them and eventually sets out on adventures of his own; and Tsetchwe - the woman whom Twikwe meets.

Pieter Scholtz has written and published no fewer than 27 plays for young people and his annual Christmas entertainment was eagerly anticipated for years while he was the Professor of Drama at the University of Natal, now UKZN. He has written a number of short stories for young people as well but The Wind is a Story is his first adult work. It is available at Adams Bookstores and a review on artSMart will follow shortly.
