WORLD WIDE KNIT IN PUBLIC DAY

MACS in Pietermaritzburg to host international project.

World Wide Knit in Public is being held on an international basis between June 12 and 19.

The Midlands Arts & Crafts Society (MACS) in Pietermaritzburg have chosen June 19 to host World Wide Knit in Public Day and invite knitters to join them as they work with hundreds of other knitters around the world on the same day!

“We participated in this international event last year for the first time and had a lot of fun introducing people to knitting (and crocheting) and answering their many and varied questions about knitting while promoting this traditional craft,” says Wendy Bloy on behalf of MACS Working Committee. “These days, with the stress that people live with, it is a wonderful skill to have in order to make garments for one's own use or to sell, a great way to relax and generally a fun and portable activity that a person of any age or gender can participate in anywhere.”

Bring knitting, crocheting, yarns, needles, whatever you need – or buy yarns and needles at MACS who also specialise in hand-dyed and/or handspun yarns. The event lasts from 09h00 to 14h00. Tea and cake will be available and spectators are also welcome!

The Midlands Arts & Crafts Society (MACS) is situated at 23 Haldane Road (off Ritchie Road), Pietermaritzburg. World Wide Knit in Public Day was created by Danielle Landes in 2005 – for more information visit www.wwkipday.com.
