Popular event to raise funds for KZN branch of the Cancer Society of SA.

After a successful return to the Durban social calendar last year, the popular Night of 100 Stars is back to raise funds for the KZN branch of the Cancer Society of South Africa, with the usual glamorous event scheduled to take place at Suncoast on August 16.

Performance director Mark Hawkins and his talented production teams from Black Coffee and DarkHorse Productions have pulled no punches in lining up the cream of the local entertainment scene. “Night of 100 Stars returned last year after a long break, thanks to a generous three-year sponsorship commitment from Suncoast,” he says. “The show typically sees artists volunteering their time and artistic talents to support this worthy initiative, without any payment and simply because they believe in the work that CANSA does. We are extremely thrilled at the line-up of stars who have committed to the campaign this year - and if you thought the entertainment in 2009 was fabulous, wait till you see what we have up our sleeves for 2010!”

Confirmed artists set to perform include comedian Joey Rasdien; award-winning actor, musician and vocalist Tim Wells; the multi-talented, comedic couple Aaron McIlroy and Lisa Bobbert; actor Ben Voss and his hilarious BEE alter ago, Beauty Ramapelepele, and singer and cabaret artist extraordinaire Melanie Roberts.

There is also the high-energy band Solid Gold; former Idols Top 10 contestant and accomplished stage personality, Pume Zondi; singer Lauren Laing; Black Magic vocalist Khaya Mthethwa and Timothy Moloi whose smooth-as-chocolate voice and masterful range wowed crowds at the 2010 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony. Also appearing will be dancers from Janine Bennewith’s Eeny Meeny Mino Mo Entertainment;

Topping it all off are multiple award-winning actress Gina Shmukler who Johannesburg audiences will see this year in the smash-hit Mamma Mia; Durban’s velvet-voiced Lyle Buxton; opera singer and Radio Zulu presenter Thokozani Mkhize-Ndlovu; Kicking it Country stars Janna Ramos-Violante, Darren King and Marion Loudon; Kirsten Dey, who will perform an excerpt from Hairspray; Durban Diva Pinkie Mtshali, and veteran performer Sam Marais.

All proceeds from the evening will go towards cancer research projects and awareness campaigns in the Durban region.

CANSA’s Night of 100 Stars takes place on August 16 at Suncoast Casino & Entertainment World at 18h00 for 18h30. Tickets for the evening are R500 pp or R5,000 per table, which includes complimentary wine, gourmet snack baskets and an evening of top class entertainment.

Booking is strictly on a first-come-first-served basis. Donations can also be made to CANSA KZNfor those who are unable to attend the event. Bookings and more information through Shauneeta Pargoolall at CANSA KZN on 031 205 9525 or email: spargoolall@cansa.org.za
