CLOSURE OF 2010 FINE ART COLLECTION

Discounts on Art Items

Powered by the 2010 Fine Art Consortium, the 2010 Fine Art exhibition marked the first time in the 80-year history of the FIFA World Cup™ that a licence had been granted to display fine art on this scale and as part of FIFA’s Official Licensed Products.

The exhibition has been running in the Suncoast Zone since June 2 and now closes around two weeks shy of its original closure date of July 31. It has seen more than 10,000 locals and tourists passing through to view and purchase collector’s prints, painting and sculptures created by leading contemporary artists from across South Africa, Africa and the 32 participating nations of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Most of the sales were to local art lovers and soccer fans.

To mark its closure by July 18, the 2010 Fine Art Collection at Suncoast will offer a 10% discount to those still keen to get their hands on some of the soccer-inspired pieces. The works draw inspiration from Africa, the FIFA World Cup™, and their country’s own national pride, represented in the artists’ styles of choice.

The pieces include limited edition prints of works by artists as diverse as Kenyan painter, Josiah Waiguru Gitau-Taju, South African photographers, Dennis Guichard and Clinton Strydom, American illustrator Michael Kupka, South Korean emerging artist Charles Yang, Gustavo Fernandes of Portugal and Briton Ed Gray.
