Deadline for The South African Institute for Advancement moved to July 9.
The deadline date for the nominations for the Inyathelo Philanthropy Awards has been moved to July 9.
“With so many people involved in the ‘beautiful game’, we realised that we had to extend our deadline by nine days in order to accommodate everyone,” says Shelagh Gastrow, Executive Director, Inyathelo -The South African Institute for Advancement. “We have had close to 30 nominations for the Awards.”
Now in its fourth year, the Inyathelo Philanthropy Awards aim to create awareness of social giving in South Africa by honouring individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to philanthropy and who are role models for future generations.
Nominations can be made in the following categories: Special Recognition Award for Philanthropy – recognising an individual for exceptional personal financial commitment to advancing philanthropy and their dedication to social giving to bringing about beneficial change in the South African community; Youth In Philanthropy Award – presented to a young person under the age of 35 for pioneering and financing creative ways to address local community issues through direct monetary support, development of charitable programmes and the cultivation of a young generation of philanthropic leaders; Women in Philanthropy Award – recognising an outstanding woman philanthropist for her leadership and innovation in growing awareness of philanthropy and, through her example and financial contributions, encourages personal social giving, and Community Philanthropy Award – recognising an individual who has worked tirelessly to create a more positive and healthy environment in a particular community, giving of their personal money, their energy and their creativity to build initiatives and encourage others to give.
Lifetime Achievement Award for Philanthropy – paying tribute to individuals who, during their lifetime, have tirelessly dedicated themselves and their financial resources to bringing about social change.

Simply complete the forms and fax to 021 465 6953 or post or deliver it to Inyathelo, 2nd Floor, Fairweather House, 176 Sir Lowry Road, Woodstock, Cape Town, 7925. The awardees of the 2010 Inyathelo Philanthropy Awards will be announced at a gala dinner to be held in Cape Town on 15 November 2010.
