FRAGMENTED PRISMS!

DUT drama piece presented at NAF to have performances in Durban.

Fragmented Prisms! written and directed by Sahele Ndlovu is a new work that was first presented by the Durban University of Technology’s drama department on the Student Programme at the 2010 Grahamstown National Arts Festival. It travels from the veneer of British Colonialism, to the nonsensical irony of Apartheid, to the disparity of class and mob mentality currently on view.

This post-modern theatre of images features a stellar cast, complex multimedia presentations, and visually stunning technical elements. The story of xenophobia over three political eras is captured through rapid-fire dialogue and physical antics that abound in hard hitting absurd humour. The play’s more serious side interrogated traditionalism and contemporary ‘modern progressiveness’ within the context of our history and the xenophobic attacks post-Independence. Audiences should expect a series of unique and visually engaging vignettes.

Fragmented Prisms! runs from July 26 to 27 at 18h00 for just over an hour in The Courtyard Theatre. Entry is free.
