PRIVATE BREATHING SPACES

(Pic by Val Adamson: Flatfoot's Sifiso Khumalo and Nobuhle Khawula)

The internationally acclaimed, Durban-based Flatfoot Dance Company come to The Breathing Space in Bulwer Road to offer a site-specific dance theatre journey that takes the audience on a very intimate expedition through the house and its premises. As you walk with the performers you glimpse echoes of private home spaces and the connection or disconnection of people living there. Sometimes a house is not a home, and yet at other times a home is where we find our redemption.

The dancers offer a very personal account of relationships that beautifully echo the home environment. Directed by Lliane Loots and jointly choreographed and performed by the whole company - Sifiso Khumalo, Magesh Ngcobo, Mlondi Zondi, Jabu Siphika and Teekay Quvane, private BREATHING spaces, is a stark and skilful jewel of a dance theatre work that will leave you with much to talk about – including the power of the dancing body as a site of glorious and transgressive storytelling.

private BREATHING spaces will be presented on July 16, 17 and 18 at 19h00. Audience places are limited to a maximum of 40 per performance because of the site specific nature of the work. Tickets R80. Bookng is essential and can be done through Clare on 082 875 6065 or email: Craighead@ukzn.ac.za A cash bar is available!
