Play focuses on drug and alcohol abuse.
Into the Sunshine is a play focusing on family and the structure of the family as it faces substance abuse. It is written and directed by Calvin Stephanu, an educator at the Fairvale Secondary School in Austerville/Wentworth.
CBCO KZN hosted the play on July 29 at the Austerville Community Hall. The average age group of Fairvale Secondary School learners is about 15/16 years old and the cast included members of the community.
Into The Sunlight deals with Jack (the dad) who is an alcoholic and Marlon (the son) who is a drug addict. The audience watches how this threatens to ruin a family, the struggles and hardships that they endure and how eventually the move "Into The Sunshine". The production includes original songs, dancing and plenty of emotion.
