Auditions to be held for The Durban Passion Play 2011 on August 21.
The Durban Passion Play, based on the Oberammergau Passion Play in Bavaria, is a dramatic presentation re-enacting the events leading up to the death of Jesus Christ and of His resurrection. The approximately 30 performances will take place during Easter 2011 in the Playhouse Drama Theatre.
Those interested in this moving production are invited to be part of the historical play and join the multi-denominational “Passion Play” family for its 2011 production. No previous acting or theatre experience is necessary. The invitation is extended to single persons, couples, families, cell groups or youth groups as well as friends - all are welcome!
All participants volunteer their time and there is no reimbursement. Own transport is essential.
Auditions will take place on August 21 at Holy Family College in Glenmore from 10h00 onwards. There are a variety of roles that people can volunteer or audition for, either as actor or actress – speaking or non-speaking parts – or working in makeup, wardrobe and props. Auditionees can try out for a specific role or simply put their name down for a non-speaking part.
Rehearsals commence at Holy Family College in September (initially once a week on Sunday from 13h30 to 17h00). “Join us for a spiritual experience, the sense of community we build as we bond together to witness to the journey of Christ to all, not to mention the fun we have together,” say the organisers.
