RYAN CALDER BAND

The Ryan Calder Band will perform three exciting shows next week, promoting their new album On The Edge around KwaZulu-Natal. Albums will be on sale for R100.

The Ryan Calder Band began 2010 with the release of On The Edge, the follow-up to the band's previous album Better Days. Having toured the Cape in April, the RCB returned to KZN and performed two full shows at the ever-popular Hexagon Dive in May and shared the stage at the Royal Show rock concert with Watershed, Wonderboom and City Bowl Mizers.

They've been playlisted on a number of radio stations in the Cape. The band's new show has been well received, showcasing the array of genres they explore from their acoustic rock foundation and making full use of big-screen multimedia to convey the songs visually to their audience. Performances next week are as follows:

August 24 at 20h00: Maritzburg Musicians' Club, Red Door in Pietermaritzburg. Entrance R20.

August 25 at 20h00: Rockafellas (ex-Boston BBQ), Golden Horse Casino, Pietermaritzburg. Entrance R30.

August 26 at 19h30 for 20h00: St Clements, 191 Musgrave Road, Durban. Entrance R30.

Currently on the band's website, songwriter Ryan explains the inspiration behind the new songs in the Behind the Song series. The band has also just launched an interactive online campaign called Life in South Africa - where the aim is to create animated webisodes, and the process of songwriting, storyboarding and animating will take place in weekly stages over the next few months.
