On October 12, Friends of Music will hold a programme of music by Schumann, Beethoven, Bartok and Franck featuring London-based violinist Daniel Rowland who leads the Breitner String Quartet and plays on a violin by Lorenzo Storioni, Cremona 1793. He has been awarded many International prizes. On piano will be Pieter Jacobs who has performed to acclaim as soloist and chamber musician in the main centres of South Africa.
The Prelude Performer for the evening will be flautist Claudia Venter who is a member of the KwaZulu-Natal Youth Wind Band. She also performed with KZNPO for the SASMT Young Performers’ concert in 2009 and at numerous other SASMT concerts.
The recital will take place on October 12 at 19h45 at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 Old Fort Road, Durban. Tickets R70 (R60 FOM members and R20 students, orchestral members). Booking is at Computicket and there is safe parking.
