ARTSPEAK 2010

National Arts Council launches ArtSpeak 2010.

The NAC will host ArtSpeak 2010 on November 10 at 10h00 at Museum Africa, Newtown. Topic: Arts Festivals: A boon or a noose for artists?

Annabell Lebethe: NAC CEO said, “The ArtSpeak events provide a platform and a free-expression space for all players in the cultural and creative industries to interrogate issues which are pertinent to their lives as artists. At the NAC, we regard artists as creative entrepreneurs and critical partners in building a dynamic creative sector.

“As an agency of the Department of Arts & Culture, the NAC’s vision is to play a tangible and active role in nurturing strong partnerships with creative entrepreneurs,” she continued. “In our role as a funding agency, we all have a responsibility to contribute to creating a vibrant sector which offers sustainable bedrocks for creative endeavour.”

Panellists speaking at the ArtSpeak 2010 event include: Andre Le Roux: GM Endowments, South African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO) and Georgina Thompson: Artistic Director: Dance Umbrella. The ArtSpeak 2010 dialogue event will be facilitated by creative arts journalist and author, Bongani Madondo.
