FANTASTICAL FLEA CIRCUS

The circus is coming to town!

“Roll up, roll up! Come one, come all! Come see the circus that’s very, very small! Join the Duchess and the Doctor, as they aim to please, and meet their famous family of fabulous fleas.” This is the invitation from Clinton Marius who is about to turn his comedy talents to a deliciously entertaining and innovative venture.

The premiere season of The Fantastical Flea Circus which Marius also directs, stars award-winning actress Shika Budhoo and Dhaveshan Govender. These two performers have developed a huge fan base over the last two years, as the lovable Mrs Singh-Song and the comical muscle man, Storm, delighting thousands of LotusFM listeners who tune in avidly every weekday to the station’s hit comedy soapie, Lollipop Lane, written by Clinton Marius and produced by Raeesa Mohamed.

As the widely-respected Fleaoligist, Dr Dhaveshan, and his companion, the world-renowned singing sensation, the Duchess de Budhoo, the popular actors have been hard at work preparing for the first appearance of the unique Flea Circus on the sunny shores of South Africa.

“So kids of all ages, shapes and sizes. Come to the Catalina for some jolly surprises. For a merry morning of magic and mirth, with the Teeniest Tiniest Circus on Earth! ,” they call. “The production’s Small Top antics promise to delight children, from those just out of nappies to those with zimmer frames. But please note that no dogs are allowed …. (They steal the show).”

Geared to engage audiences of all ages, The Fantastical Flea Circus will play at Durban’s Catalina Theatre on Wilson’s Wharf from December 11 through to January 9, 2011, with daily performances at 11h00. Tickets R45 with optional boat rides at an extra R15. Bookings on 031 305 6889.
