Umcebo Trust at uShaka Marine World is involved in an ongoing programme to host Durban University of Technology PR Students as part of their Work Integrated Learning. They spend six months with Umcebo doing various assignments, and this culminates in their arranging a function at the shop working in association with Umcebo Administrator, Diane Ching.
In support of skills development and economic empowerment in the arts-and-crafts sector, Durban Consul General Jill Derderian was the Guest of Honour at a reception at the Umcebo Trust shop recently.
Her hosts were a group of six Durban University of Technology (DUT) Public Relations/Marketing students who acquired experience and skills through a DUT Work Integrated Learning module at Umcebo Trust. The practical experience gained by working with Umcebo Trust’s Director, Robin Opperman, was "extremely valuable", DUT student Thabang Matsoso told the gathering of Umcebo Trust’s private sector supporters, art lovers, and city government officials.
