Rieger Orgelbau, the renowned Austrian organ builder, recently built a large new organ for Regensburg Cathedral in South Germany.
Wim Mutsaerts of Music Map has a very impressive 45 minute DVD which can be shown anywhere where there is a screen.
So far, a number of venues have indicated that they will be willing to show the DVD:
February 8 at 16h30 at Hilton College. Contact 033 383 0126 or 033 383 0100
February 9 at 14h00 at Le Domaine, 100 Acutts Drive, Waterfalls. Contact Diane Ward on 031 716 8000 and on the same date (confirm time with venue) at St Mary's Girls School, Kloof. Contaact Heidi Paul on 031 231 716 80.
Lovers of organ music re invited to come and watch the making of the metal pipes, the wooden pipes, the wind chests, the console and other parts in the Rieger workshop itself. Experience the problems of placing a large organ in the historic building that resulted in the hanging of the organ from a steel structure above the vaulting. See the voicing of the pipes, and be part of the inaugural service. It is an unique opportunity to watch this fascinating Virtual Organ Display!
Entrance is free at all venues and all are welcome. Please confirm attendance to Wim Mutsaerts on 083 325 9828 or email mutsaerts@musicmap.org.za
