MNET Stars will screen the movie, Mona Lisa Smile on February 13 at 19h30. Directed in 2003 by Mike Newell, it stars Julia Roberts, Kirsten Dunst and Julia Stiles and deals with a free-thinking art professor who teaches conservative 50's Wellesley girls to question their traditional societal roles.
Free-spirited Katherine Watson arrives at the prestigious all-women Wellesley College in Massachusetts in 1953 with a sense of excitement. She is looking forward to teaching art history to some of the brightest female minds in America. There's just one little problem: they don't think an education will help them to snag husbands! After all, how can you hold down a job and get dinner on the table on time?! It's a dilemma, which Katherine seeks to solve by showing the young women that there is a fulfilling life beyond the stereotypical roles of wife and mother. But she has her work cut out as her students - and the faculty - challenge her every step of the way.
