(Rory Rootenberg)Celebrating his friendship with his long time Durban pianist Anne Duthie, Rory Rootenberg will thrill with renditions from some of the great musicals in a show titled High Notes & Highlights at Rhumbelow Theatre this coming weekend and the next.
Much loved by Durban audiences, Rory Rootenberg will once again present a programme of charm, wit and beautiful music. Join Rory and Anne as they visit Italy (Anema e core, Besame Mucho), Ireland A little bit of heaven, Too ra loo ra loo ra, Galway Bay), And this is my beloved from the musical Kismet and Something Wonderful from The King and I. Then there’s the Eurovision song winner Hallelujah, Freddie Mercury’s Barcelona and more, including some Jewish favourites and of course some of those famous Rootenberg high notes!
Shows take place from March 11 to 20 with Fridays and Saturdays at 20h00 and Sundays at 14h00 and 18h30. The venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner.
Tickets R100. Take along food picnic baskets and braais will be available. There is limited secure parking and booking is essential. A cash bar is available (no alcohol may be brought on to the premises). Rhumbelow Theatre is situated in Cunningham Avenue off Bartle Road.
