The sixth annual exhibition of paintings by respected South Coast landscape artist and gallery muse, Anton Benzon, is currently running at the Anton Benzon @ Crouse Art Gallery KZN, at their brand new premises – 254 Windermere / Lilian Ngoyi Road in Morningside.
Benzon has been honoured by having the Morningside gallery named after him. A huge body of his work has been on show since the gallery opened and this will be his fourth first solo exhibition in this space.
The work of Anton Benzon is denoted by distinctive emotive landscapes. His work captures various landscapes, and studies of trees in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, in particular. In his collection are paintings of the Drakensberg, Midlands, uMzimkhulu, Bulwer, Nottingham Road, Magaliesburg and Eshowe. Unusually, he has also been working with brooding dangerous seascapes and some studies of children playing with hoops.
Anton Benzon @ Crouse Art Gallery is owned by Michelle Dodds (who also runs the gallery) and Chris and Suzette Crouse. Gallery hours are 09h00 to 16h00 weekdays (09h00 to 12h00 on Saturdays). Normally the gallery is closed on Sundays but they will be open today (April17) from 09h00 to noon.
The Crouse Art Gallery can be found at 254 Lillian Ngoyi / Windermere Rd in Morningside, Durban. More information on 031 312 2315 or visit www.crouseartkzn.co.za
