BOEP IDLES

The irrepressible Gee Jays, Gary McKenzie, Grant Bell and John Didlick present their popular show Boep Idles at the Stirling Theatre in Durban North. The show is described as an absolute slap in the face for the TV reality show Pop Idols, and one definitely not for the faint-hearted.

Boep Idles ask the questions: “What happened to those stars of yester year? The ones who made the big time in the 60’s and 70’s? Have they now got boeps of their own?” Then they provide the answer as to what actually happened: “They’re sitting at home with a beer watching Pop Idols. “

The show features songs from Cliff Richard, Jerry and The Pacemakers, The Fortunes, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Tom Jones and many more. Patrons are invited to come take a look at how seemingly un-talented artists can make the big time in spite of their complete lack of talent or ability. “If they can attain mediocrity – so can we...” says McKenzie. “Come and join us on the couch...” Watch out Simon Cowell... !

Extract from the artSMart 2010 review reads: “… the hugely popular Gee Jays are back again in outrageous costumes – some new, some old – in their latest show Boep Idles. Despite all the fooling around in a wild array of hats and glasses, Gary McKenzie, Grant Bell and John Didlick always deliver the goods when it comes to the music.”
