The Playhouse Company’s 2011 Test Driving the Arts development initiative runs in the Playhouse Port-Cochère until December. These monthly lunch-hour programmes offer a free platform for aspiring groups wanting to make the leap from the amateur to professional performance circuits in Pantsula, Hip Hop, Gospel, Isicathamiya, Afro Jazz, Township Maskandi, Isigekle and other contemporary music and dance styles. These popular events offer audiences an enjoyable way of spending a lunch-hour, while affording valuable talent-spotting opportunities for event organisers looking for fresh new artists to enrol.

The first Test Drive lunch hour event is on April 5 between 12h00 and 14h00. The celebrity programme director is UKhozi FM’s Thanda Ndlovu, and featured artists include the Inkazimulo Gospel group, Durban Revolution Pantsula performers, Vumile Mngoma’s Maskandi and Ingqayizivele Indlamu Dancers.

Admission is free and all are welcome at these popular outdoor lunch hour entertainment events. Enjoy an excellent cup of coffee and a fine selection of refreshments before or afterwards in the Playhouse’s Coffee Shop.
