THIRD AWARD FOR PIETER DIRK-UYS

At the 46th annual Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards held at Artscape last month, Pieter-Dirk Uys collected his third major award this year. It was for his role as Bambi Kellermann in F.A.K Songs and Other Struggle Anthems that ran to great acclaim at The Fugard Theatre last year. He won in the category Best Performance in a Revue or Cabaret.

Since February this year Uys has received:

* The 2010 Fleur du Cap to Bambi Kellermann, sister of Evita Bezuidenhout, for Best Performance in a Revue or Cabaret for F.A.K. Songs and Other Struggle Anthems;

* The 2010 Naledi Lifetime Achievement award to Evita Bezuidenhout for her witty, refreshing and fearless observations of the social fabric of South Africa over the past 30 years (Twitter: @TannieEvita);

* The Special 2011 TEDDY Award, presented to Pieter-Dirk Uys in Berlin, for personal excellence and for his commitment to the fight against HIV/Aids and for his stage alter ego Evita Bezuidenhout (www.pdu.co.za)

Uys will join Ms Kellermann, Evita Bezuidenhout, and a chorus line of the brash, the bad and the beautiful in his new show Icons, Aikonas & Desperate First Ladies, running at the Baxter Theatre in Cape town in September 2011. Booking is already open at Computicket with special discounts available and charity bookings via sharon.alexander@uct.ac.za or 021 680 3962.
