ANDREY BARANOV

On May 17, Friends of Music will host a recital featuring Russian violinist Andrey Baranov with Maria Baranova on the piano.

Andrey Baranov was born in Leningrad and is a Laureate of different International competitions from 2002 to 2010. Maria Baranova became a Laureate of the 2008 tenth International competition named after M Yudina. Along with another violinist, Maria won the prize for the best duet at the Academy of Music in Lausanne.

Their programme will include JS Bach’s Ciaccona from Sonata no 2; Beethoven’s Sonata no 3 Op.12; Tchaikovsky’s Waltz Op. 34; Wieniavski’s Polonaise brilliante Op.4, and Gershwin Porgy and Bess (red. by J. Heyfiz)

The Prelude Performers for the evening will be the Northlands Girls' High Grade 12 Vocal Ensemble.

The recital will take place at 19h45 at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 Old Fort Road, Durban. Tickets R70 (R60 FOM Members and R20 Orchestral & Student members). Booking is at Computicket. There is safe parking.
