MOVIE MASTERPIECES

A concert of famous music soundtracks for movies will be presented by the Pietermaritzburg and Durban City Orchestras at Hilton College. This performance will also feature choral contributions by the present University Madrigal Singers and the Cordwalles Senior Choir.

The concert highlights famous John Williams numbers such as The Star Wars Epic, Themes from Memoirs of a Geisha, Hymn to the Fallen from Saving Private Ryan, A Window To The Past from Happy Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the theme from Jurassic Park, Superman March (from Superman), The Olympic Spirit, the theme from Schindler's List, selections from Hook and Raiders March (from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Also featured will be the John Williams & Leslie Bricusse number Somewhere in My Memory from Home Alone.

Other numbers include the theme from The Godfather (Nino Rota); I Knew I Loved You from Once Upon a Time in America (Ennio Morricone); Fantasy for Violin and Orchestra from Ladies in Lavender (Nigel Hess) and selections from Pirates of the Caribbean (Klaus Badelt)

Movie Masterpieces takes place in Hilton College Theatre on May 28 at 19h30.
