The Playhouse Company in Durban is looking for a fully-skilled Marketing Manager to take up employment with immediate effect.

The successful applicant will be expected to have: a minimum of five years working experience in a marketing department in the performing arts or related environment (two or three of which should be in a management/supervisory role); tertiary qualification in marketing; a proven track record in converting marketing strategies into direct sales; and experience in fundraising.

Skills and competencies requisite to the post include: MS Office Suite; verbal and written communication skills, preferably including spoken and written knowledge of the IsiZulu language; finance and budgetary control; excellent interpersonal skills; as well as excellent administration, planning and organizing skills.

The successful incumbent’s main duties will embrace the overall development of a marketing strategy for the institution, taking into account the objectives of organization’s strategic plan. The marketing manager will also be responsible for: devising and executing marketing, media and publicity campaigns for productions; for initiating and organising promotions within and outside the Playhouse complex; directing a team of employees toward the attainment of the objectives of the marketing plan, specifically direct sales.

Further pre-requisites include ensuring that the marketing plan is carried out within the established budgetary parameters, as well as management reporting on all activities of the marketing department (internal audit, risk assessments, monthly management reporting); developing and driving fundraising and sponsorship initiatives; and managing all corporate advertising.
