SAWC ANNUAL WRITING SEMINAR

The South African Writers Circle’s Annual Writing Seminar will take place at The Oaks, Richmond, from May 27 to 29 on the topic Travel Adventure.

Guest speakers include Cameron Ewart-Smith, Hamilton Wende, Trevor Corbett, Eivind Gjøsund and Graham Lancaster.

Editor of Getaway Magazine and based in Cape Town, Cameron Ewart-Smith is an author, photographer and editor interested in all forms of communication media. Hamilton Wende is a guest lecturer in creative writing and non-fiction narrative at Wits, Rhodes and UCT. He has six published novels, the latest, House of War, is a thriller based in Afghanistan. It has been published by Penguin.

Trevor Corbett is a counter-intelligence strategist for the National Intelligence Service (NIS) who worked as an investigator in the NIS’s organised crime and corruption unit. He is a musician and film maker with an honours degree in Criminology. A motivational speaker, Eivind Gjøsund has a novel published by Viking, called Ubuntu. It’s described as a book of ‘motivational messages, myths and legends from the heart of Ancient African Wisdom.’

Graham Lancaster is a SAWC Quill Award winning author, with the novel to be made into a motion picture. He is also a 2010 American Pushcart Poetry nominee; 2010 English Academy of Southern Africa poetry judge; 2011 English Academy of Southern Africa Gold Medal proposal and he writes in ten genres from the many eclectic facets of his adventurous life. With 31 published books, and widely published in anthologies, his poetry and teenage adventure series are taught in schools.

The cost of the seminar is R1,650 (SAWC members R1,450) includes two nights’ accommodation including meals (Friday supper to Sunday lunch), with theme dinner on Saturday night; seminar fees and notes: (Single supplement: R250).

Fees for day-only seminars R400 (R350 members) including lunch (per day).

For two nights’ accommodation and meals only (for spouses / guests not attending the seminar): R1,150 (sharing); R250 (single supplement).
