The Strat Pack was a Live in Concert film that was shot on September 24, 2004, featuring Joe Walsh, Mike Rutherford, the late Gary Moore, Brian May, David Gilmour, and many more, marking the 50th Anniversary of the Fender Stratocaster guitar. The film was released in 2005.
Heritage Theatre in Hillcrest is to present their own version of The Strat Pack which takes that celebration of the “strat” and adds a few other dimensions to it with features from Mark Knopfler, Hank Marvin, Bad Company, Pink Floyd and Queen. Some of the numbers include Parisienne Walkway, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Living Years, Private Investigations, Tie Your Mother Down and Cocaine.
The show features Heritage Theatre’s acclaimed musical maestros, Dawn Selby, Barry Thomson, Mali Sewell and Jason Andrew and guest guitarist, Shaun Dragt. They will be “fronted” by Gary McKenzie who shares vocals and keeps them on the straight and narrow.
If you’re into rock music and all that the “Strat” stands for, you will love this show. The show runs until June 5. Tickets R190 from Wednesday to Saturday (R165 Tuesday dinner and Sunday lunch) include a two-course meal. There is “show only” option at R100 pp.
Coastal Music have proudly sponsored a brand new Fender Stratocaster to be given away to one lucky patron on the last night of the show. Every night one lucky person’s name will be drawn out of a hat and they will be invited back to the final night for the big draw.
