NIBS VAN DER SPUY

After a six-month absence, internationally renowned, guitarist, singer, songwriter Nibs van der Spuy returns to KwaZulu-Natal for a series of shows. He will be performing songs from his recently released DVD, the SAMA nominated, Live at the Vagabond CafĂ© as well as some newly written songs from an all acoustic album, Morning Star. This will be released in September accompanied by a European tour including, Italy, UK, France and Spain. Nibs will be performing solo on some shows, three with drummer/percussionist Gareth Gale and a big concert to celebrate ‘Le Fete de la Musique’ on June 24 with long time friend, Guy Buttery.

Nibs van der Spuy has been touring the world with his brand of insightful acoustic guitar mastery and poignant lyrics over the last four years. Journalists from all over the globe and predominantly Europe have cited Nibs as a fresh voice in the ‘Nu folk’ movement. With his virtuosic acoustic guitar style and mesmeric voice he has enchanted listeners from small intimate theatres to large festival stages. With the release of his latest offering, A House across the River, France’s leading newspaper Liberation, wrote a full page article on Nibs and back on the home front, Keith Tamkei from the Sunday Times, praised it with a rare five stars.
