WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LENNONS ...

Jo Rowlands

Coming up at Heritage Theatre in Hillcrest is When Life Gives You Lennons ... which takes a comical look at the dreary, day-to-day life of an average middle-class family as seen and told through the songs and lyrics of John Lennon.

Have a laugh, relax and sing along as the Rigby family share anecdotes from their life together. Their ups and downs. Their victories and defeats. Next door, their single neighbour tries to hold it all together after a failed marriage. Living on her own, she shares the realities of her life alone. The songs and word bring their stories alive.

Expect John Lennon favourites together with one or two Beatles numbers thrown in for good measure. Some of the songs featured are Jealous Guy, Whatever Gets You Through The Night, Give Peace a Chance, Woman, Imagine and Just Like Starting Over. And some of the Beatles greatest, including Eleanor Rigby, We Can Work It Out, Help, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and All We Need Is Love.

The show features seasoned performer John Didlick, international cabaret artist Jo Rowlands, who has just returned from a 12 month sabbatical, and newcomer to the local arts scene, Katy Moore, playing three true-to-life front line characters. They are musically backed by Tim Pullen on keyboards, Don Hastings on drums, Roland Fisher on guitar and Jason Andrew on bass.

When Life Gives You Lennons ... runs at the Heritage Theatre in Hillcrest from June 14 to July 10. Tickets R100 for the show only. To enjoy a two-course meal from Heritage’s good menu, why not eat before the show at a cost of R190 pp from Wednesdays to Saturdays at 19h00 (R165 pp Tuesday evenings and Sunday lunchtime shows at 12h30)?

There are three "preview" specials on June 14, 15 and 16 June on a “buy-one-get-one-free” basis. All prices include a two-course meal. Bookings can be made on 031 765 4197 or online at www.heritagetheatre.co.za
