(Lauren Dasappa)Colin Penn will present a return performance of his popular Mama Leonie's Singing Waiters on July 31.
“I was invited to the Opera School at UKZN a while back and I was entranced with the voice of the person singing the lead Maria,” explains Colin Penn. “I spoke to my old friend Bronwen Forbay who was here on a visit from USA and she introduced me to the lady whose name is Lauren Dasappa and tongue in cheek asked her whether she would sing in a concert of mine and she agreed. Last week she sang as a soloist at the Olympic Games Committee’s opening ceremony and she is currently doing her Masters, thereafter to wing her way to USA. Whether it’s heavy opera or cool jazz, it’s all the same to Lauren. Together with John and Andrew Butler we are in for a feast of great singing and wonderful music.”
The show takes place on July 31 at the Norwegian Hall with lunch starting at 13h00 and the show at 14h00. It’s BYO everything. Tickets R60 – booking essential through Barbara on 031 564 5135.
