CANSA’S NIGHT OF 100 STARS

(Bianca Le Grange is among the star-studded line-up)

It’s a highlight on Durban’s social and corporate calendar, and it’s back! Bigger, better and brighter than ever. This year’s glamorous Night of 100 Stars gala charity dinner, held in aid of the KZN branch of the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), takes place at Suncoast Casino & Entertainment World (Suncoast) on August 15, 2011.

It brings onto one stage, for one evening only, the best of South Africa’s stage and screen stars, handpicked by performance director Mark Hawkins and choreographed to perfection in a spectacular show of song, dance and comedy. Each celebrity volunteers his or her time and talents in support of cancer research and awareness projects in the greater Durban region.

This year’s event ties into CANSA’s 80th birthday celebrations year under the banner, “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow,” and all proceeds from the evening will go towards CANSA’s Durban operation.

As Monday nights are traditionally “night off” for performing artists, many high-profile stars have been able to pledge their support to appear on the programme. These include razor-tongued comedian John Vlismas; singing sensation Bianca Le Grange; radio and TV presenter Elana Afrika; the multi-talented comedic couple, Aaron McIlroy and Lisa Bobbert; actor Ben Voss and his hilarious BEE alter-ego, Beauty Ramapelepele; actor Stephen van Niekerk of Egoli and Snitch fame on MNET; SA’s Got Talent winner and dancing sensation Darren Rajbal; East Coast Radio DJ Damon Beard; Jazz/R&B vocalist Natalie Rungan; the high-energy band, Solid Gold; jazz saxophonist Andrew Young, and the winning group of POPSTARS 2010, Nne Vida.

artSMart Editor and Durban theatre personality, Caroline Smart, will be among the presenters.

Night of 100 Stars takes place at Suncoast Casino & Entertainment World (Suncoast) on August 15. Tickets R350 pp or R3,500 per table, which includes complimentary wine, a three-course meal and an evening of top class entertainment. Booking is strictly on a first-come/first-served basis at Computicket. Donations can also be made to CANSA Durban if you are unable to attend the event.
