(Israel Houghton)Multi-award winning American gospel singer Israel Houghton returns to KZN and will perform a concert of praise worship, rock and jazz gospel for one night only at the City Hill Church in Hillcrest on August 8.
The four-times Grammy winner will also introduce the new vocalists who successfully auditioned in June to become part of his dream-come-true New Breed Africa project and he will share his vision for an ongoing partnership in South Africa.
The New Breed Africa hands-on mentorship programme will provide experience of live performance, live and studio recordings, and the possibility of an international platform including a chance of future international tours.
“This is the first time that something like this is happening,” enthuses Houghton’s Durban spokesperson, Preya Chetty from Life Events. “Israel has been dreaming about this since 2005, and we are delighted that his dreams are now coming true! The project is huge! It starts here at the Southern point of Africa and reaches out to the ends of the earth. We are calling all Ministers, Pastors, leaders, students and volunteers to come and listen to his vision and partner in it.
Houghton adds: “We want to empower, educate, train, challenge, and encourage musicians and singers alike to be a part of something bigger than ourselves, both in music and ministry development, in life and leadership development.”
Israel Houghton is an internationally-recognized worship leader, recording artist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer. He has been in fulltime worship ministry since 1989 and has created a powerhouse of songs that have become standards in churches around the globe. Over the past decade, he has amassed a multitude of fans while breaking down any conceivable barrier and drawing together people of all races, ages and cultures through worship. He has been awarded two Gold-selling albums, six Dove Awards, two Stellar Awards, a Soul Train Award, and four Grammy® Awards.
