MYMIX ACADEMIES

Putting the sound mix back into artists’ hands.

Musicians will be able to mix it up to the next level thanks to Prosound’s nationwide myMix Academies this August, showcasing an exciting new sound mixing product. The new myMix is a personal monitor mixer with recording capability, and this nifty gadget is a must for musos and bands who want to create their own monitor mixes, as well as churches, rental companies and other organisations wishing to break into the next dimension in sound mixing technology.

Already, local music acts such as Just Jinjer and the Soweto Gospel Choir are finding myMix an invaluable professional tool, while local music and sound teams working on theatre shows such as High School Musical and Dreamgirls are also singing its praises.

Prosound’s myMix Academies will be presented by Mathias von Heydenkampf, director of Movek/myMix. Aimed at current and potential users, these hands-on sessions will provide an in-depth explanation of the units, outlining how they work, their uses, features, benefits and so on. A number of myMix units will be available at each workshop for people to use during the sessions.

This networked personal monitor mixer and multi-track recording system signals an important paradigm shift in sound mixing, placing sound control firmly in the hands of bands and performing artists.

Reviewing the product in Professional Sound magazine, producer/recording engineer Michael Saracino said: “The myMix personal monitor mixing system developed by Movek is an excellent solution for all monitor/headphone mixing scenarios. … I would love to eventually put in a network of myMix personal mixers in our studio as they would certainly increase productivity and, more importantly, customer satisfaction, which is crucial.”

The academies take place in Johannesburg, Cape town and Durban, with the Durban event being held on August 23 at the Gateway Barnyard Theatre from 11h00 to 13h00. To book your place in one of the academy sessions hosted by Prosound, email buyiswa@prosound.co.za or call Grant at 011 470 6800.
