RAGAS & TALAS

The Kala Darshan - Institute of classical music and dance will present Ragas & Talas, an evening of classical music and dance by Shri Manesh Maharaj and his students.

Produced and directed by Shri Manesh Maharaj, the production highlights the various fields of performing arts. Sitar, Tabla, Harmonium, Vocal and Kathak will come together on one stage, creating a breathtaking aural-visual experience which will transport the audience through a spiritual journey of music and dance.

“Kala Darshan was established in 1999 with the aim to preserve and promote our rich cultural heritage of classical music and dance in South Africa,” explains Manesh Maharaj. “We have endeavoured to create a platform for aspiring students as well as upcoming artists to showcase their talents. Since its inception and through our programmes, we have assisted numerous religious and non-governmental organizations raise funds for their respective projects. Some of these organizations include The Aryan Benevolent Homes, The Ramakrishna centre of SA, The Dudlu project for underprivileged women, The Chinmaya mission of SA, The Shri Vishnu Temple, The Saraswathie Cultural society and The Arena Park Temple.

Ragas & Talas promises to captivate and enthral a diverse audience with its rich music score, vibrant choreography and exquisite costumes. It will take place on August 13 at 19h00 at the Rajput Hall in Chatsworth. Tickets R40 available at the door, More information on 082 422 6865.
