VIEW

The history and representation of the landscape reflects our relationship to the land together with the historical, ideological and political undercurrents that have dominated our ‘VIEW’. This is the thinking behind the group exhibition VIEW at the KZNSA Gallery which probes and interrogates the landscape.

The exhibition is curated by KZNSA Gallery Curator Bren Brophy. The artists include: Andrew Nair, Mduduzi Xakaza, Deanne Donaldson, Doung Jahangeer, Gordon Froud, Nicole Pletts, Peter McKenzie, Robert Domijan, Grace Kotze, Harry Lock, Themba Shibase, Bronwen Vaughan-Evans and Ntobephi Ntobela, Zandile Ntobela, Zondile Zondo, Nonhlakanipho Mndiyatha, Nontanga Mangutshana of Ubuhle

“Perhaps it is not so much what we are viewing, but why are we looking?” poses the organisers. “As the viewer our position is not neutral.”

View opens at the KZNSA on August 23 at 18h00. The KZNSA Gallery is situated at 166 Bulwer Road, Glenwood, in Durban. More information on 031 277 1703, fax 031 201 8051 or cell 082 220 0368 or visit www.kznsagallery.co.za
