PRIME CIRCLE DOUBLE CELEBRATION

(Prime Circle)

The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway will stage a double celebration with Prime Circle, as both the venue and band prepare to turn ten years old. From humble beginnings, both have grown to be forces to be reckoned with in the theatre and music industry since they first established themselves in 2001. The joint celebration will take place with Prime Circle performing three shows at the venue on October 3 and 4.

The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway was the first fully-fledged commercial venue in the now well-established circuit, while Prime Circle have gone from a rehearsal room in Witbank, to become one of South Africa’s most popular and talked about bands. Since opening ten years ago, The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway has established itself as a hugely popular live-music venue with many of South Africa’s top bands and performers. After numerous sold out shows at the mall venue since 2007, Prime Circle will return as part of their ten year birthday tour.

Prime Circle is just back from another very successful tour of Europe, after having won the Best Rock Album SAMA for 2011 with their Platinum selling fourth album, Jekyll & Hyde. It was released in September, 2010, while their first single off it, Breathing, was already setting charts alight. This was followed by recent hits Turning In My Sleep, Never Gonna Bring Us Down and Turn Me To Stone.

The line-up will include all their hits as well as new songs such as Everything You Want (boasting one of the most beautiful keyboard melody lines Prime Circle’s ever written), I’m Ready and Turn Me to Stone which are all expected to be hits.

Part of the appeal of The Barnyard Theatre for live music is that it is an intimate venue with great sound and lighting. It also offers a laid-back environment where patrons are able to enjoy food and drinks before and during the show seated at tables and counters, especially making use of the weekend performances. Audience members can also meet the band in the bar after the show to buy paraphernalia and get autographs.

Prime Circle has shared the stage with international mega superstars including Metallica, The Rasmus, Simple Plan, Live, Collective Soul, Incubus, Peter Gabriel, Goo Goo Dolls, Kaiser Chiefs and Good Charlotte to name but a few. The band consists of Ross Learmonth on vocals and rhythm guitar, Dale Schnettler on drums, Dirk Bisschoff guitar and vocals, Neil Breytenbach on keyboards and Marco Gomes on bass guitar.

Tickets R160 pp and seating will be as for normal shows, with no standing room. Bookings through The Barnyard Theatre on 031 566 3045 or e-mail gateway@barnayrdtheatre.co.za for enquiries and further details.
