STER-KINEKOR LIVE CONCERT SCREENINGS

If you missed Kylie Minogue’s show stopping performance at the Sun City Superbowl recently, don’t feel left out, because this Spring, select Ster-Kinekor theatres will screen a series of super entertaining and electrifying concerts, all in high-definition and in the comfort of your favourite cinema!

September 9 to 11: Kylie Minogue’s Aphrodite Les Folies in 3D will take fans to heights of visual and auditory delight with her greatest hits such as Can’t Get You Out of My Head, Love At First Sight, Slow and the Grammy-Award winning Come Into My World. Filmed at London's O2 Arena and directed by William Baker and Marcus Viner, this exciting production features Kylie and her popular music for a full 120 minutes.

September 16, 17 and 21: The legendary Peter Gabriel returns to stage with the sort of innovative and visionary performance for which he is renowned. Filmed in 3D and HD in March 2011 at his sold-out London’s Hammersmith Apollo concert, and to a backdrop of multiple video screens and supported by a 46-piece orchestra and full band, Gabriel delivers a selection of new and timeless hits including Don’t Give Up, Red Rain, In Your Eyes and Solsbury Hill.

September 20 only!: In celebration of Pearl Jam’s 20 year anniversary, the definitive portrait of the band as told by Academy Award-winning filmmaker and music journalist, Cameron Crowe, Pearl Jam Twenty gives fans and audiences an intimate first glimpse into Pearl Jam’s journey culled from more than 1,200 hours of rare and previously unseen footage, over 24 hours of recent interviews with the band, as well as live footage of their concerts! After two decades, Pearl Jam remains one of the biggest acts in the world. With over 60 million albums sold worldwide they continue to create and perform phenomenal music.

From September 16: BBC Proms If you are a classical music fan and enjoy the likes of Brahms, Liszt, Emmanuel Ax and Edward Gardner, then this exclusive screening is definitely for you. Enjoy the Brahms Proms, which is the chamber orchestra of Europe’s second pairing of Brahms masterworks. Audiences will be spoilt with the sounds of Brahms’ late-Romantic take on the Baroque-style passacaglia, which utilises material from J.S. Bach.

From October 21: Last Night of the Proms will hit local Ster-Kinekor theatres and Cinema Nouveau’s. In this moving conclusion, audiences will find a great blend of tradition and high jinks as Gardner conducts his first Last Night of the Proms. Two special guests have been incorporated to produce the grandest of grand finales.

From October 14: Affectionately known as the ‘King of Waltz’, André Rieu is loved by international audiences. Each year he performs a series of concerts in front of thousands of fans in Maastricht, joined by his famous Johann Strauss Orchestra. Andre’s most dedicated fans fly from all over the world to see this incredible live event and these annual concerts are the high point of André Rieu’s schedule. This year’s highlights include guest performances from The Harlem & Soweto Gospel Choirs and a performance of a beautiful waltz called And The Waltz Must Go On which was composed by Award-winning actor Anthony Hopkins who was also in attendance.
