BASA INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Business and Arts South Africa (BASA) hosts a year-long internship programme, sponsored by Rand Merchant Bank. The aim is to provide real life training and skills for young people hoping to enter the Arts Administration environment.

The Internship gives an emerging administrator the opportunity to access mentorship, grow in several administrative skill areas through training, and also drive projects, which provide synthesis between study and practice.
The year-long internship exposes the intern to several large scale events, research projects, management of IT, and quite an extensive marketing and communications portfolio. The intern is also responsible for driving BASA’s CSI initiative, an opportunity to show that all organisations have the capacity to “pay it forward”.

BASA’s current intern, Arthur Nkuna, comments, “The internship has been a phenomenal learning curve for me. As much as I love business, I love the arts as well. As a Bachelor of Commerce Graduate from Rhodes University, this was a wonderful opportunity for me to gain experience and knowledge about how business can help the Arts be a viable entity business wide. I got the opportunity to network and interact with a great deal of people from both the Arts and Business. The internship experience has equipped me with the basic tools required to be a skilled, diverse and knowledgeable business professional that can assist in bridging the gap between business and the arts.”

Interns are selected on the basis of their education, experience, and enthusiasm for the arts. The position runs from January to December each year. Students who are selected for the position are expected to engage in the diverse projects in which BASA, itself is involved. The intern reports to the Marketing and Operations Manager, and works closely with the entire BASA team.

If you have an interest in an opportunity designed to enhance the ability of young administrators to move into professional positions, the BASA RMB Internship Programme may prove to be an excellent platform.

The deadline for submitting applications is October 14. Interested applicants should visit the BASA website (www.basa.co.za) to submit their applications online.
