BIG TOP ROCK

The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway celebrates its tenth birthday with Big Top Rock running until January 8, 2012. As this sequel to Rock Circus takes the show’s concept to new heights, it shows promises to have audiences spellbound.

Big Top Rock is the ultimate rock ’n roll circus featuring a 12-piece cast that offers music, aerial acts, acrobats and a circus atmosphere that will rock audiences like no other. Hosting the show as ringmaster is the talented rock singer extraordinaire Kyle Matthews, who is joined by Nadine Sisam and Stephan van Huyssteen on vocals. They are backed up by a rocking five-piece band consisting of Andy Murray (vocals and guitar), Vusi Maseko (keyboards), Bongani Nikelo (bass guitar) and Dylan van der Linde (drums).

The four-piece international aerial act Sircusynergy comprising Orlando and Natalie Vargas (who blew audiences away in Rock Circus), Marco Vargas and Shannon Webster, also joined by dancer/acrobat Denya Maslen, add the icing to the cake. Sircusynergy perform a variety of acts that include the running wall, pole acrobatics, juggling, flying rope, lyra and strap acts which are all performed to the beat of the rocking live band and singers.

Six decades of music is featured from icons like Prince, Lenny Kravitz and Pink, to rock bands like ACDC, U2, Journey, Kings Of Leon and many more. Audiences can expect to party along to songs like Jump, Rock DJ, Hips Don’t Lie, Whole Lotta Love, It’s My Life and Let’s Get The Party Started.

Big Top Rock is the biggest, most entertaining and most daring show ever produced by The Barnyard Theatres. With this being The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway’s year-end show, they will celebrate the festive season with extra lunch time shows at 13h30, as well as their very popular Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve shows.
