MANESH TO DELHI

(Manesh Maharaj)

Shri Manesh Maharaj has been invited by the ICCR (Indian council for cultural relations - Delhi) to represent South Africa at the annual classical dance festival to be hosted on October 24 and 25 at the prestigious Kamani Auditorium in Delhi. He will be accompanied by his talented student Bhavta Harrielall (14 years old) who will also perform with him. They will present a traditional kathak repertoire.

After their performance in Delhi, they will perform in Guwahati (Assam) on October 28 and Calcutta on October 30. Their tour will also include a lecture demonstration at one of the local schools which will be conducted by them.

Shri Manesh Maharaj is the disciple of legendary Kathak Guru, the Late Nrityashri Madhurita Sarang. He is presently the artistic director of Kala Darshan - Institute of classical music and dance, focusing on the advancement and preservation of the classical performing arts within our community.

Sushri Bhavta Harrielall is a student of Shri Manesh Maharaj and has been undergoing training in Kathak for the past seven years. She has participated at various cultural programmes in South Africa and has a promising future in the field of Kathak.
