The Original Production by Cameron Mackintosh and the Really Useful Group of The Phantom of the Opera will be directed by Harold Prince in a season that will run in Cape town and Johannesburg.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s smash-hit musical never fails to attract with its glorious music and dramatic content. Far beneath the majesty and splendour of the Paris Opera House, hides the Phantom in a shadowy existence. Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, the love he holds for his beautiful protégée Christine Daaé is so strong that even her heart cannot resist…

The cast is headed by Andre Schwartz in the title role with Jonathan Roxmouth as Raoul. Robin Botha alternates with Magdalene Minaar as Christine. For Sunday performances Jonathan Roxmouth is the Phantom and Anthony Downing plays Raoul.

Other leading cast members include James Borthwick (Monsieur Firmin); Jason Ralph (Monsieur Andre); Pauline du Plessis/ Hanlee Louw (Carlotta); Angela Kilian (Madame Giry); Thabiso Masemene (Piangi), and Cat Lane (Meg Giry)

Presented by Pieter Toerien & The Really Useful Group and sponsored by TELKOM, the production runs in the Artscape Opera House in Cape Town from November 22 to January 15 after which it moves to Johannesburg to run at The Teatro at Montecasino from January 31 to March 25.
