After the sell-out performance of Nutcracker earlier this year, Edouard Miasnikov brings the Stars of the Ballet Moscow to Durban for two gala shows on October 25 and 26.
The show includes star artists from the leading ballets theatres of Moscow, including the Bolshoi Ballet, Moscow Classical Ballet, Russian National Ballet and the Moscow Kremlin Ballet. They will perform some of ballet’s best-loved classical dances - Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Act 2 in the first half and in the second half, Ludwig Minkus’s Paquita Grand Pas, Camille Saint-Saens’ The Dying Swan, Adolf Adam’s Le Corsaire Pas de Deux, Tchaikovsky’s Russian Dance from Swan Lake and Jacques Offenbach’s The Grand Finale Can Can.
The company was formed by a trio of leading Bolshoi Ballet soloists – Yuri Vetrov, Maria Bylova and Mikhael Bessmertnov. Vetrov is an acclaimed artistic director and was a former director of the Bolshoi Ballet, who has worked with several outstanding choreographers including Yuri Grigorovich. Bylova is a choreographer, teacher, the People’s Artist of Russia and prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Ballet. Bessmertnov is an artistic director and soloist of the Bolshoi Ballet, Moscow Classical Ballet and Russian National Ballet.
Performances take place in the Playhouse Opera on October 25 and 26 at 19h30. Tickets range from R135 to R225 and are available from Computicket. Early booking is advised.
