LISZT vs LISZT

An all-Liszt free piano recital by Christopher Duigan will take place at the Tatham Art Gallery on November 20 as part of the Tatham’s The Fabulous Picture Show event.

Christopher Duigan presents an outstanding selection of music by Franz Liszt on the 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth. Probably the greatest pianist of all-time, Hungarian-born Franz Liszt (1811-1886) was a pianist of extraordinary technical and musical virtuosity.

Selecting from his all-Liszt programmes presented this year, Duigan features a number of contrasting performance pieces from the composer’s varied output. In this Sunday morning concert, Duigan plays the Hungarian Rhapsodys Nos 2 & 6, La Campanella and La Leggierezza together with music from Years of Pilgrimage, Liszt's most extensive and poetic work. The programme will last approximately 70 mins.

Presented by Music Revival in association with FOTAG, Liszt vs Liszt will take place on November 20 at 11h45 at the Tatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg. Entrance is free but donations will be collected. Booking through Music Revival on 033 342 3051 or email: booking@musicrevival.co.za Safe parking will be available in Parliament Gardens.
