BEAUTY AND THE BEAST AUDITIONS

KicksArt, Durban’s top theatre company, will hold open auditions for next year’s spectacular Festive Season production, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Directed by Steven Stead, KickstArt’s Executive Director, the show is scheduled to run from November 27, 2012, to January 6, 2013, at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre.

At this stage, the producers are casting for the principal character, Belle, though auditions for men and women for the ensemble and for boys under 12 to play Chip will be held later in the year in April. Watch the press for details.

Actresses auditioning for Belle should be between the ages of 20 and 30, and have some professional stage experience, formal training and a solid vocal technique. They should prepare the song Home from the musical, and have one other song in English that shows off an ability to sing in a confident soprano range, and demonstrate an ability to act through music. Either backing tracks or sheet music (there will be a pianist, and the track for Home will be available) are essential.

Auditions for Belle will be held at the Playhouse’s Mayville Complex in Room M1 between 10h00 and 13h00 on January 6, 2012.
