DOLPHINS BY STARLIGHT

(Andrew Sutton, Clive Gumede, Lauren Laing, Liam Magner and Samantha Landers .... and the world-famous Gambit!)

It’s Christmas with a twist – and a leap and a turn and splash - at uShaka Marine World this December.

Dolphins by Starlight which runs between December 14 and 18, will have young and old enthralled as the marine theme park’s superstars – queens of splash Affrika, Tombi, Khanya and Zulu, saltwater showmen Kelpie, Jula, Khwezi and Ingelosi and showstopper Gambit, the largest bottlenose dolphin in any oceanarium in the world – turn up the glitz and the glamour for the festive season.

Sponsored by First National Bank, this year’s musical dolphin adventure is produced and directed by uShaka’s very own “Simon Cowell” - Events Manager, Wayne Scott.

It features some of Durban’s top talents - Clive Gumede, Lauren Laing, Andrew Sutton, Louise Golding and Quinton Ribbonaar - who will perform an extract from The Nutcracker and the enchanting electric string quartet Brava. With a 12-piece orchestra, the ensemble cast features Bradley Marshall, Brendon Mendez, Kirstin Day, Samantha Landers, Natalie Shama and Portia Sishi The 1st Medical Battalion pipes and drums will also make an appearance.

The Christmassy song list adds tinsel – expect strains of divas Maria Carey, Christina Ageluras and even Beyoncé - and features the likes of When a Child is Born, Silent Night, Mary’s Boy Child Jesus Christ, The Prayer as well as singalongs Jingle Bells, Silent Night and more.

Special guests include Santa’s mascot together with the new uShaka Mascots whose performance of Have Yourself a Merry Merry Christmas offers a rasta/reggae island version from Rusty the Penguin, a hard rock rendition by Raggy the Shark, a pop interpretation courtesy of Splashy the Dolphin and a dash of Bollywood hip hop from Slippy the Seal.

Add your own special touch by bringing along some toys to support East Coast Radio’s Toy Story initiative. That way, you can enjoy the show while thousands of children around KZN can look forward to a gift this Christmas.

Dolphins by Starlight runs at the Dolphin Arena at uShaka Marine World at 18h30 for 19h00 from December 14 to 18. Tickets R110 (R95 children under 12) booked via Computicket or on 031 328 8000. The ticket price allows the holder to visit Sea World and Wet ‘n Wild.
