Durban band LUMINATI through to the finals in the Battle of the Acoustics.

The funky, fresh and upbeat six-piece outfit competed with three other bands on December 5 at The Collective in Durban. All musicians were given the opportunity to perform for 30 minutes in front of a jury comprising three music industry experts. With the acoustics arrangements of their familiar songs they blew the jury away.

The Battle of The Acoustics is a local talent search offering Durban musicians a platform to showcase their talents in a special acoustic setting. Besides the recognition they received for their outstanding talent and a well-deserved place in the final, the Durban band won a professional photo shoot by Matt Wilkes.

The winning of this photo shoot comes at an ideal timing for Luminati. “We are recording our first songs at the moment and this is definitely going to help us with our growth and professionalism…. Having professional photos as a band gives a good impression and creates more opportunities for us,” says Mzwandile Manelis Ntsele, one of the vocalists of the band.

The final of The Battle of The Acoustics will take place on December 12 at Unit 11. The entrance fee is R20 and doors open at 18h30.

Luminati will also appear at UKZN Howard College MTB Building to open the Open Mic evening on December 8 at 20h00 (entrance is free)

On December 10, they will perform at Unit 11 as a support act for Tumi and The Volume. Tickets R50 and the doors open at 20h00.
